CIA WINS FIRST EVER HVMAC SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP/CAPTURES #1 SEED IN TOURNAMENT
Steens to host Webb for third meeting this season in HVMAC Semifinals; MSV hosts Cooper in other bracket

(Oct. 28) - Senior Vin Cioffi (Willington, CT/ED Smith HS) scored three goals and added three assists, and junior Russell
Karath
(Raleigh, NC/UMC) added three goals as the Culinary Institute of America Men's Soccer team clinched its first-ever
Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference (HVMAC) Soccer Championship with a 12-0 win over the Webb Institute on
Saturday. A year after CIA won its first HVMAC Tournament crown, the Steens captured the regular season title after
clinching the final tie-breaker with Mount Saint Vincent by scoring enough goals to beat MSV's goal differential. Culinary
also clinched the #1 seed in the HVMAC Soccer Championship Tournament that begins on Oct. 28.

Culinary clinched the championship after capping an undefeated season during which CIA's lone glitch was a 2-2 tie with
Mount Saint Vincent on Sept. 26. The tie forced Culinary to play their best soccer of the year down the stretch as they
worked to capture the title via tiebreaker. A 1-0 win over Cooper Union on Oct. 6 set up a showdown a week later with
Webb that would close the regular season and determine the eventual winner. CIA left little doubt with its win by a dozen
goals over Webb.

#1 Culinary will host #4 Webb on Oct. 28 at a time to be determined. Also that day, #2 Mount Saint Vincent will host #3
Cooper Union also at a time to be determined.
